A new business which
offers a unique extra tuition service for students of
all ages has been launched in Keighley.
Pennine Tutoring, based in Russell Street, has been
set up by Shabbir Hussain, a science teacher with 12
years teaching experience, currently teaching at a local
school.
He said: "We offer expert tuition at affordable
prices for students from the age of five or six right
through to A Levels in the core subjects and other subjects
on request. Our aim is to work in partnership with schools,
parents and students to provide the full range of education
and reinforce what is already being done in schools."
Using qualified, experienced and highly skilled teachers,
Pennine Tutoring can also provide coaching for the 11
Plus examination free of charge to students who are
already enrolled for general schooling.
Mr. Hussain, 35, said: "In the past parents were
able to back up what their children were doing at school
and make sure they did their homework. But these days
many parents are very active in their own work, with
both parents often working full-time, and by the time
they get home and have their tea, they don't have time
or the energy to do that.
"We can be the force that monitors the children's
progress, helps them to learn more at home and enhances
all that the schools are already doing. By working as
a three-way partnership we can help the children to
realise their full potential and carry on with the good
work the schools have done.
"We are not taking the place of either the schools
or the parents, but working with them to make sure the
students feel valued."
Mr. Hussain, who has three young children of his own,
believes Pennine Tutoring is unique in providing help
and guidance with all aspects of schooling, to ensure
students receive a good, all-round education.
"From the age of six we work on life skills, including
reading and writing, and progress right through to A
Levels," he said. "I firmly believe that in
time this is the way all private tutoring will be because
parents want their children to succeed but don't always
have the necessary resources. Such additional resources
are available in abundance at Pennine Tutoring."
Mr. Hussain, who failed his own 11 Plus, is a big believer
in extra coaching for the selection examinations but
feels that it should be made available free of charge.
He said: "I strongly feel that parents get too
worked up about the 11 Plus exams and in their anxiety
commit their children to expensive crammer courses,
whereas we offer a free course that is carefully structured
and delivered in a stress-free manner."
